Letter from Fr. Doss  [CHURCH]

A Farewell Letter from Fr. Doss,

Dear Parishioners of St. Andrew Parish,

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. I thank God for everything he has done in my life.  He raises the poor from the dust, he lifts the needy from the lowly to give them a place with princes, to assign them a seat of honor; for to Yahweh belong the pillars of the earth, on these he has poised the world(1 Samuel 2:8). This is true in so many lives. People in my village tell their children, “Look at Fr. Doss. He lost his parents when he was in 5th grade, and without anyone’s help, he is now in America.” I wonder myself how I could I have managed to come here.

2016 New Years Greeting  [CHURCH]

Dear Parishioners,

Another year is upon us. Some may choose to see the coming of a new year with a sense of dread as they face challenges that are to come. Others may look at a new year with a sense of despair, as they realize they are one year older. Still others may look at a new year with excitement at the possibilities that are before them.

Here at Saint Andrew we welcome 2016 with excitement!

One Book One Parish 2016  [CHURCH]

St. Andrew Parish is participating in a year-long program for the spiritual wellness and renewal of its members called One Book One Parish.
This initiative came out of Parish Transformation that began last Spring. For this program, St. Andrew Parish has a gift for each household in the parish. The book “Seven Keys to Spiritual Wellness” by Joe Paprocki was given to parishioners on the feast of the Epiphany, January 2 and 3, 2016. If your household did not receive this book, come by the parish office during business hours to pick up a copy.

Do You Hear What I Hear?  [CHURCH]

Perhaps you have heard something new in the neighborhood in the last week? Thanks to an extraordinary gift in memory of Matt Suhar who passed away in 2013, an electronic carillon system has been installed in the parish bell towers. Now, for the first time, the sound of bells can be heard coming from St. Andrew Parish! In the extended post, you can actually view a video of the blessing ceremony at the 3:00 PM Christmas Eve Mass, as well as hear a recording of the very first time the carillon system was used.

The Giving Tree: Update  [CHURCH]

Thank you Saint Andrew!  You have been so generous and supportive of The Giving Tree project!  This year, St Andrew began a new relationship with St. Mary of the Lake and St. Thomas of Canterbury to support these parishes as a “sister parish.” The first effort in this relationship was to provide warm hats and mitten for 550 students at these schools. Over 3 weeks of this project, parishioners flooded the parish rectory with gifts which were delivered on December 16, 2015.

St. Andrew Parish is using FLOCKNOTE!  [CHURCH]

December 6, 2015 St. Andrew Parish launched the use of Flocknote for the parish. This is a robust communication platform built for parishes. It is similar to Constant Contact or other email platforms, but also does texting, polling, event RSVPs, and group bulletin boards, all while allowing users to control how they receive messages and from what groups within the parish. Read more to find a short video that explains more about the program and also to see a list of Frequently Asked Questions.
