WHAT IS THE R.C.I.A.? The R.C.I.A. stands for the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. It is the process by which adults seek to learn more about the Catholic Church and possibly, to seek membership in the Catholic Church through the reception of the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, & Eucharist. WHAT HAPPENS IN R.C.I.A.? Persons in the RCIA meet weekly for sessions on a particular theme or teaching of the Catholic Church. WHEN ARE R.C.I.A. Sessions Held? R.C.I.A.
