Computer Literacy

Computer classes, held in our state of the art computer lab, are aligned with the National Educational Technology Standards and are created within the Illinois State Standards for the core curriculum for that grade level. The program begins with keyboard recognition, dexterity with the mouse and simple program commands. At the Kindergarten level, the computer course reinforces letter and number recognition and seasonal and religious themes taught in the classroom. Computer parts and internet use and safety are introduced in first grade along with the basic functions of Kidpix (a program formulated on the Microsoft Office program.) Each year the topics covered and the skills introduce correlate to the themes of the core curriculum and the skills expected of students in their other courses.
