Emergency Procedures
Emergency information forms are distributed to each family on contract signing days. Please supply the emergency phone numbers and adult contacts requested and return in to the school the first day of school. Please indicate any medical problems your child might have on this form. We ask you to also inform your child’s teacher of these medical problems.

Changes of Address 

Please keep the School informed of all changes in residence address and home and work phone numbers. This information is essential at times of child illness or other emergency.

Safe School Zone
 
Saint Andrew is a Safe School Zone. All students have the right to an education in a safe environment. There is ZERO tolerance of drugs, alcohol, gangs, fireworks, weapons, graffiti or anything else that might jeopardize the safety of our students. Any students who are involved in any of the above activities will be immediately suspended. Depending on the seriousness of the offense, expulsion may be the punishment and is irrevocable.
 
Search and Seizure
We reserve the right to inspect all student and school property.
 
  
School Visits
Any visitors to the school, including parents/guardians, are required to sign in and out at the school office. They will be issued a Visitor Pass.
 
Classroom Visits
Parents/guardians are welcome to visit a classroom and observe their child in the school setting. Arrangements for the visit should be made, prior to the visit, with the assistant principal and teacher.
 
Reporting Child Abuse
By law, the State of Illinois requires school personnel to inform the Department of Children and Family Services of any allegation/suspicion of child abuse/neglect.
 
  
SCHOOL RECORDS 
The Archdiocese of Chicago, Office of Catholic Education has adopted a policy known as Guidelines for School Records. These rules describe parental rights to their child's records maintained by the Catholic Schools of the Archdiocese. These rights include:
 
Right to inspect
Parents/guardians have the right to look at all of their child's records in the official school file. In order to do so, a written request must be submitted to the school office twenty-four (24) hours in advance. 
 
Right to prevent disclosures
The school will not disclose anything to a third party from a student's records unless:
¨       A parent/guardian consents in writing prior to disclosure
¨       The information is directory information which will be kept confidential
¨       The request for information meets one of the limited circumstances described in the Guidelines.
 
Right to request correction
Parents/guardians have the right to present evidence that the school should amend any part of the child's records which they believe to be inaccurate, misleading or otherwise in violation of a student's rights. If the school decides not to change the records, parents may insert an explanation therein.
 
Child Custody and Non-custodial parent 
Saint Andrew School abides by the provisions of the Buckley Amendment with respect to the rights of non-custodial parents. In the absence of a court order to the contrary, a school will provide the non-custodial parent with access to the academic records and to other school related information regarding the child. If there is to be no information given, it is the responsibility of the custodial parent to provide the school with an official copy of the court order.  A copy of the full text of the Guidelines is available in the school office.
