Giving Tree Christmas 2017

Saint Andrew Parish and School will again be partnering with St. Mary of the Lake and St. Thomas of Canterbury, located in the Uptown neighborhood, with a Christmas service project through a Giving Tree. Last year’s project was incredibly successful and we helped over 550 students ranging from Pre-K – 8th grade stay warm over the cold, winter, Chicago months.

Season’s Greetings!

It’s Advent!  Which means many wonderful things, but also means the Giving Trees are up in the school (outside the main office, outside the Pre-K classroom and in the JK classroom) and in the back of Church!  We will also have volunteers handing out ornaments each morning at drop off and pick up starting Monday, December 4th – Friday, December 15th with our “MOBILE GIVING TREE”.

Saint Andrew families will be able to select ornaments off the trees and begin their holiday shopping.  Each ornament has a label on the back providing details about each child.  You will notice the child’s name, their grade and their gender on the label.  Pay special attention to those details when doing your shopping.

As a reminder, here’s how it will work:

Each child/student from St. Mary of the Lake and St. Thomas of Canterbury is going to receive a gift from a Saint Andrew family (families can take more than one child if they choose) equaling no more than $25.00.  This gift will include two (2) NEW items from a pair of gloves/mittens, socks, a winter hat or scarf.  90% of these students are immigrant families and are often taken aback by how cold Chicago winters are.  How thankful these children will be to have two brand new gifts this Christmas!

  • Please have your items purchased and returned by Friday, December 15th at 5pm.
  • You may drop off these items at the school or the Rectory
  • We ask that your 2 new winter warmth items be placed in a zip lock bag (unwrapped) along with the ornament.

Thank you for your support!
